CRIME: Wanted: 2nd suspect in KFC robbery
Police have released the name of a second suspect in the Sept. 7 armed robbery at Kentucky Fried Chicken, and they are seeking the public’s help in finding him.
Anthony C. Richardson, 21, is still at large, and is wanted on two counts of first-degree robbery, police said.
A Lockport police lieutenant was injured when a trio of armed robbers hit the KFC at 494 West Ave. last month.
“Richardson was armed with handgun at the scene,” Police Chief Lawrence Eggert said. “We believe he was the driver of the car that hit Lt. (Brian) Wentland,” Eggert said. The suspect intentionally assaulted Wentland by striking him with the escape vehicle, Eggert said.
Richardson was last seen in the Oakfield/Batavia area, police said.
The first suspect, David L. Nelson, 26, a parolee, was caught by detectives Kevin Schrader and Lt. John Yotter just hours after the robbery. He was charged with first degree-robbery and second-degree assault.
Police said Nelson confessed to part of the robbery. A caller from the scene said the three suspects held guns to their heads and then fled the scene.
Police and detectives said they are working with the district attorney and are close to closing the case.
The name of the third suspect has not yet been released, police said.
