BLOTTER: Police reports published Jan. 21

City of Lockport

CHARGED: Robert E. Reeb, 33, 6552 Lincoln Place, Apt. F, was charged Tuesday night with second-degree criminal contempt. Police said he violated an order of protection issued in June.

MARIJUANA: Nicholas W. Karre, 20, 75 High St., was charged Tuesday night with unlawful possession of marijuana. Police stopped a vehicle for an alleged traffic violation. Upon interviewing the driver, police reported a strong odor of marijuana came from Karre. The suspect said he had two small bags of marijuana in his vehicle, but officers found three bags containing suspected marijuana, according to a report.

Town of Lockport

MISSING PERSON: A Ruhlman Road resident filed a missing persons report on a 15-year-old girl with the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office. The girl is 5 feet, 7 inches, 150 pounds with black hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a black jacket and white sneakers. The caller told deputies that the girl is a Lockport High School student and was not in their residence Wednesday morning before school.

DRUGS: Julie A. Vas, 32, of West Avenue, Gasport, was charged Wednesday with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. A police report said Vas also has three active warrants from the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office and the Lockport Police Department. Vas was held at the Niagara County Jail in lieu of $250 bail and is due Jan. 28 in town court.

COMPLAINT: A Chestnut Drive resident told police Tuesday that a dog bit his leg while he was out walking his own dog. The victim said he received the bite while he was attempting to protect his dog from the attacking dog. The Niagara County Health Department confirmed the second dog’s vaccination records.

Somerset

DWI: Christopher M. Kaufman, 22, 8738 Telegraph Road, Gasport, was charged Tuesday with first-degree driving while intoxicated. Police responded to a report of a reckless driver on Lower Lake Road, where they found a vehicle in a ditch. Kaufman reportedly told police he had three alcoholic beverages prior to the accident. He reportedly failed sobriety tests and registered a 0.16 percent blood alcohol content. Kaufman was held at the Niagara County Jail in lieu of $250 bail.

Royalton

BURGLARY INVESTIGATION: An Akron Road resident told Niagara County sheriff’s deputies a handgun was taken from her home. The resident said there were footprints outside the residence leading inside, according to a report.
