Driver ticketed after 3-car accident on Transit

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal — A Cheektowaga man was ticketed for following to closely and failing to stop for a red light after triggering a three-car accident about 7 p.m. Monday at Transit and Rapids Road.

Three people were taken to area hospitals. A driver in the first vehicle suffered a head injury and back pain and was taken to Erie County Medical Center. The driver of the second vehicle had a head injury and a passenger in the third vehicle had head and back pain. They were taken to Eastern Niagara Hospital-Lockport. There were no serious injuries reported.

The Cheektowaga driver was not identified.

According to Deputy Dave Ganz of the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, two cars were stopped at the traffic light at Transit and Rapids Road when the third car caused a chain-reaction accident. 

Traffic was tied up for about 25 minutes. Volunteer firefighters from South Lockport, Rapids and Wendelville responded.
