Man runs to Casa after truck rollover

Lockport Union-Sun & Journal —

A 26-year-old Lewiston man was found hiding in a Casa Montego women's bathroom stall after a rollover accident in the area of Route 31 and Heath Street Sunday.

David Spencer, 4606 Model City Road, Lewiston was charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, speeding, unsafe lane change and refusing to take a screen test.

City police responded to a rollover accident at 1:10 a.m. and were notified that the driver was running away from the scene. The man was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and red baseball cap. He was last seen running east on Route 31 and north on Heath Street. Footprints in the snow led to Casa Montego.

The bartender described Spencer and reported he ran into the bar and said, "I can't go back to prison. I just flipped my truck."

There were no patrons in the bar and the police found Spencer hiding in the ladies room. He was taken to Lockport police headquarters. He refused to perform field sobriety tests and to take a breath test after being read his DWI warnings.
