HARASSMENT: Matthew J. Lequeux, 20, 163 South Street, was charged Sunday with second-degree harassment and subsequently charged with second-degree aggravated harassment and first-degree criminal contempt. According to the report, a Lockport Police Department patrol responded to a reported domestic incident that the victim told police involved Lequeux, her ex-boyfriend. The victim reported that Lequeux approached her while she was walking down South Street and began yelling at her. He then grabbed her by her hair and neck and punched her in her ribs four or five times, causing pain and difficulty breathing. She refused medical treatment but wished to pursue charges against Lequeux, who told police the incident had not occurred and that she had filed a false statement after he was located and arrested. He was issued an order of protection stating that he must avoid contact with the victim, which he signed but crumbled up and threw in the trash, saying “I don’t need this paperwork and it is bull****.” Later Sunday, the victim reported that she had received a phone call from Lequeux asking for her to bail him out of jail, causing her annoyance and alarm. Police confirmed with the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office that Lequeux was incarcerated and that they had no knowledge of the thrown-out paperwork. He was arrested a short time later and is scheduled to appear today in City Court.
