BLOTTER: Police reports published July 10


City of Lockport

BURGLARY: Joel A. Nagel, 17, 247 Hawley St., lower apartment, was charged with second-degree burglary Thursday morning. An Adam Street man complained to police on Tuesday that his apartment had been broken into. Investigation turned up Nagel as a suspect, according to the police report. The apartment owner said it appeared a quantity of candy was taken from his home. Nagel was held without bail pending a Monday appearance in Lockport City Court.

VANDALISM: A resident of 168 Cottage St. reported a tire on his vehicle was slashed sometime early Thursday. City police estimated the loss at $100.

CONTEMPT: John M. Peace, 40, 20 Robinson Place, was charged with second-degree criminal contempt Wednesday. Peace is accused of threatening City Judge William Watson on June 19. Details about the alleged threat were listed in a “confidential Judicial Threat Summary report,” according to the police report; the judicial report was not made available to the US&J; upon verbal request Thursday.

CONTEMPT: Martin R. Stephen, 40, 325 Michigan St., Apt. B, was charged with second-degree criminal contempt July 7. On July 4, a woman complained to police that Stephen approached the vehicle she was in and poured beer on her; the incident took place on Gabriel Drive. Stephen is to appear in City Court on Monday.

HARASSMENT: Joshua A. Taylor, 17, 112 Cottage St., upper, was charged with second-degree harassment July 7. He’s accused of punching a woman about the head and face, causing her a bloody lip and swelling.

HARASSMENT: Jason S. Lathrop, 29, 6523 Jeffrey Drive, was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment July 6 at his home. He’s accused of making verbal threats against a woman by phone.

DWI: Amy L. New, 42, 123 Nichols St., Apt. 3, was charged with driving while intoxicated and felony DWI on July 6 at 444 West Ave. New was charged after telling police she’d just driven to West Avenue from her home to retrieve her cell phone; the officer who spoke with her said she exhibited signs of intoxication. New later refused a breath test, the report said.

CONTEMPT: Christy W. Wood, 43, 255 Genesee St., Apt. 2, was charged with second-degree criminal contempt July 6. Wood allegedly violated an order of protection between her and a Main Street resident, the report said.

MISCHIEF: A resident in the 3800 block of West Lake Road reported a vehicle was vandalized on the property early Wednesday. The windshield of a 1995 Ford Taurus was broken; a shovel was found on the ground near the car, the sheriff’s report said. The resident indicated the window on the front passenger door of the same car was broken two days earlier but he did not report it . Total damage to both windows is pegged at $650.
