Probation given to Middleport teen in theft
A Middleport teen was sentenced Thursday afternoon in Niagara County Court to five years probation.
Zachary M. Hoffman, 18, of Francis Street, was charged with second-degree burglary, and fourth-degree grand and petit larceny.
Sheriff’s deputies reported that Hoffman and a juvenile stole $1,200 in cash during a home burglary in November 2009.
Hoffman was also ordered to pay $700 in restitution.
Newfane woman gets probation in embezzling case
A Newfane woman convicted of stealing nearly $30,000 from Niagara County Federal Credit Union over the course of several year while she was employed there was sentenced Thursday morning in Niagara County Court to probation and ordered to pay more than $10,000 in restitution.
Gail M. Witkop, 51, of Lockport-Olcott Road, took a plea offer in March to fourth-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records.
