Two people who were charged after police reportedly found marijuana inside a 4-year-old’s sneaker appeared Monday in Lockport City Court.

Sherry A. Sanney, 27, of 327 Washburn St., upper, and Joshua M. Bryant, 21, 6595 Harvest Ridge Way, are each charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and endangering the welfare of a child.

In court Monday, the cases against both were scheduled for another pre-trial hearing July 7.

Police received a report Wednesday from staff at an early education program in the city who reported they had found what they thought was marijuana in the sneaker of a 4-year-old.

The child had been limping, and when employees looked in his shoe, they found several small baggies of marijuana, the report said.

Later that day, the Niagara County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant, signed by Lockport City Court Judge William J. Watson, on the apartment of Sanney, the boy’s mother.

Inside, officers reportedly found a small quantity of marijuana.

Bryant’s attorney, Barry Covert, said he had no comment on the case.

In September, officers searching Sanney’s then-apartment on South Street reportedly found a plastic bag filled with marijuana inside a backpack.

At the time, Sanney’s children were turned over to her mother, and she was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana and endangering the welfare of a child.
