FUNDRAISER: Murder mystery dinner theater planned for March 27
Literacy Volunteers of Niagara County, together with The Winery at Marjim Manor, will present the murder mystery dinner theater production, “Murder Plays a Sour Note,” at 6 p.m. March 27. It takes place at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Education Building, 4487 Lake Ave.
Set on New Year’s Eve 1925, the story revolves around the murder of a singer from the Loyal Geraniums, Sammy Fenetra. The suspects include the band leader, Lou Gumbardo; pianist Tony “Ivory” Ivanski; drummer Betty “Boom Boom” Baxter; singer Mary Rose Looney; owner of the Pitz nightclub, Roxy Romano; hat check girl Shirley Fedora; sommelier Reese Ling; businessman Giovanni Fishi; and Windy City Mayor Richmond Dailey. Help Marriot Mess from the Unmentionables sort through this cast of characters.
A donation of $40 per person includes a wine and food pairing dinner with “Wine, Wit and Wisdom” television show host John Bourdage, a keepsake wine glass and an evening of theater.
Catering is provided by Donna Eick. Meal choices include beef, chicken or vegetarian fare.
Come in your Roaring ’20s or gangster-style fashion to be considered for special prizes.
Tickets are available online at www.marjimmanor.com, by phone at 778-7001 or in person at the Literacy Volunteers main office in the Lockport Public Library, 23 East Ave.
In addition to the dinner, Literacy Volunteers will sponsor a basket raffle and split club. All funds raised will be used to further their mission of helping those adults who want to improve their reading skills with one-on-one tutoring.
