The Lewiston-Porter School District has been locked down while local law enforcement officials investigate a report of a robbery in the vicinity of the school campus.
The robbery occurred Thursday morning on Creek Road, and the suspect has apparently fled the scene, but remains in the area.
Lew-Port School District Superintendent R. Christopher Roser said few details have been provided to school officials at this time, but he confirmed that law enforcement officials believe the suspect may be in the wooded area behind the school campus.
“We were informed by authorities to lock down all of our buildings and we are waiting on word from those authorities as to when we can reopen those buildings,” Roser said.
The Niagara County Sheriff’s Department and other law enforcement agencies are on the scene investigating the situation, and additional details will be provided as they are made available.
