Niagara’s leading point-scorer Stephanie Gartley scored to give the Purple Eagles women a 2-0 soccer victory over visiting Manhattan.
Shaylyn Lawrence took a chip pass from Chiara Greco in the 40th minute to give NU (10-4-1 overall, 3-2-0 MAAC) a two-goal lead that would not be relinquished.
Goaltender Ashleigh Bowers kept the Jaspers (5-6-2, 2-1-1) off the board in her shutout win. Her night was highlighted by a key save late in the first half on a header in the box.
The Purple Eagles will honor their seniors before their final home game at 1 p.m. Sunday against Saint Peter’s.
Islanders help Buff St. win
Heather Buzzelli set up former Grand Island teammate Ashley Mazurkiewicz for the opening goal in the Bengals 3-0 win at Potsdam. Goalkeeper Meghan Jarrell didn’t need to make any saves for Buff State (8-5-1, 4-2-1 SUNYAC).
UB gets shutout
The Bulls dropped to 4-6-4 overall and 0-5-2 in the Mid-American Conference with a 1-0 loss at home to Northern Illinois. UB will play its final home match at 1 p.m. Sunday against Western Michigan.

Jason Hill (Niagara Falls) had a goal 2:15 into the contest, but Buffalo State lost its opener, 2-1, at Geneso. The Bengals will play Fredonia today in to conclude the SUNYAC Challenge.

Bengals lose pair
Katie Sember (Kenmore West) had 10 kills in Buff State’s four-set loss to Brockport in the second round of SUNYAC Pool Play at the Buffalo State Sports Arena. The Bengals also lost a four-set match with Oswego.

Donner helps Bengals romp
Andy Donner (Niagara-Wheatfield) had a pair of goals as Buff State won 8-0 over visiting Potsdam. The Bengals are 10-5 overall, and 4-3 in SUNYAC.
